Bathing Tips:

  1. Use Tepid Water
    – You want to use cooler (but not cold) water because bacteria thrive in hot, wet environments)
  2. Follow prescription instructions on your shampoo
  3. Follow the label instructions on over the counter

Outdoor and Indoor Tips:

  1. Wipe your pet off with a damp cloth before bringing them in from outside
  2. Additionally, if possible, send pets outside when you vacuum
  3. Do not allow pets outside directly after mowing the lawn
  4. When dusting, use a trapping cloth or duster head verses a feather duster
  5. Clean/Dust fan blades to limit airborne dust
  6. Change Air Filters regularly

Flea Control:

  1. Use a monthly flea treatment
  2. Follow label or prescription instructions on package
  3. Wash bedding and stuffed toys in hot water, once a week
  4. Vacuum regularly
  5. Treat your yard and if necessary, your house.

Bed Etiquette:

  1. Check pet’s bed for cedar chips as this is common in dog beds.
  2. If your pet with a feather allergy sleeps with you, remove any feather products such as down comforter or pillows
  3. Wash the bedding in hot water once weekly
    – Wash per label instructions

Toys:

  1. Should be washed once weekly in hot water
  2. If your pet has food allergies, you should not use flavored toys
